Many of you may not know, but there are very few zoos in Australia where the general public can hold a koala. There are plenty of places where you can get close, and sometimes even pat then, but no holding. But I had the opportunity to hold one at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

Luckily, this weekend a few friends and I were staying in Surfer’s Paradise on the Gold Coast of Queensland, so we took a day to go down to Currumbin and hold Australia's iconic marsupial.

Here’s me and Sapphire!

Besides cute, little Sapphire, the Currumbin Wildlife sanctuary was amazing. There are dozens of free-range kangaroos that visitors can pet and feed, dingos being walked around like dogs, a giant crocodile, and a koala hospital with a koala nursery with a little baby koala. It was a day well spent - probably the best zoo I've ever been to.

Enjoy some kangaroo pics!
